Response of Different Machine Foundation Shapes Resting on Dry Sand to Dynamic Loading

In this paper, the effect of footing shape resting on dry sand when subjected to machine dynamic loading is experimentally investigated. A laboratory set-up was prepared simulate case at different operating frequencies. Nine models were tested examine effects combinations two parameters, including frequencies (0.5, 1, and 2 Hz) shapes (circular, square rectangular). The tests conducted under a load amplitude (0.25 ton) using with medium dense relative densities corresponding (R.D. = 50% 80%) having unit weights (17.04 17.96 kN/m3) respectively. shaft encoder vibration meter used measure strain displacement, while stress in soil depths measured flexible pressure sensors. It found that has considerable influence bearing capacity supporting loading. For instance, circular nearly (41%) higher, displacement (17%) (12%) higher than rectangular footings, same conditions.
